Orangutan Caring Week 2025

Orangutan Caring Week 2025

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of Orangutan Caring Week—a time to reflect on two decades of raising awareness, inspiring compassion, and supporting action for orangutans and their rainforest homes. Our 2025 theme, “Focusing on Hope and Positive Action”, reminds us that while hope is essential, it is action that creates lasting change.

Hope motivates us to imagine a future where orangutans thrive in safe, healthy forests. Positive action—whether through education, conservation, advocacy, community engagement, or financial support—turns that vision into reality. Together, hope and action are powerful forces for protecting orangutans, safeguarding biodiversity, and ensuring a healthier planet for us all.

We invite you to celebrate this milestone year with us. Share your stories of hope, highlight the positive steps being taken, or plan events and fundraisers that inspire others to care and act. Every voice, every effort, and every action contributes to building a brighter future for orangutans and the world we share.

We can learn a lot from orangutans!

Baby Orangutan holding onto mother

Our 2025 banner features “Hope” by wildlife photographer Craig Jones. This powerful image perfectly captures the heart of our 2025 theme.

Craig shares: “A baby Sumatran Orangutan clings to his mum’s fur on her back as he makes eye contact with me. He tried to hide away in the fur as both mother and baby were passing through the jungles of Sumatra. The name given to this image is “Hope” because I hope this species of orangutan lives on and isn't the first great ape to become extinct should current trends of deforestation carry on.”
